var mychar=document.getElementById("con");
mychar.style.backgroundColor="#ccc";

getElementById
backgroundColor
按顺序执行，如果script代码在文本上方则无法在执行到<h2>标签时调用Javascript，可以通过添加函数来调用上面的代码。也可以把javascript代码写在<h2>标签下。
